Lufthansa is partnering with social reading platform Sobooks to integrate an innovative ebook offer into the new FlyNet® portal on their long-haul fleet. Ebooks can be streamed via Sobooks technology and read on any internet-enabled device. Be inspired by German-language books via the FlyNet® portal and find the right book for your trip. In addition you can talk to other readers online via the Sobooks platform and share book extracts on social networks.
As well as a presentation of suggested books you can also download sample publications to your own mobile device and, if you like them, pay for them after login using electronic cash or Miles & More miles. The book can then be streamed by the passenger via Sobooks at any time. In addition, Sobooks regularly offers moderated book discussions, which sometimes also include the book’s author. On board Luthansa long-haul aircraft on selected routes you’ll receive ebook suggestions related to your destination, for example ‘The five best books for your flight to New York’. The offer will be available with the roll-out of the new FlyNet® portal on the Airbus A330/340 fleet which started at the beginning of November 2015. The entire long-haul fleet will be gradually equipped with the relaunched portal by the beginning of 2016.
In addition, Lufthansa offers you broadband internet access on the entire long-haul fleet via Wi-Fi. You can go online on board in all classes or check the latest news and important sporting events via the FlyNet® online portal. More than three quarters of long-haul aircraft have also been equipped with direct mobile network access, which allows passengers to send and receive text messages and synchronize their data via their mobile devices.
