The future belongs to the RIMOWA Electronic Tag

The RIMOWA Electronic Tag is the first digital and fully integrated mobility solution for baggage which makes flying with baggage more comfortable, faster and more secure. In future Lufthansa passengers can also check in their baggage with the RIMOWA Electronic Tag from home or on the go via the Lufthansa app.

Lufthansa is the first airline to offer this service 

And this is how it works: with a click the data from the electronic boarding pass is transferred via the smartphone to the baggage which is equipped with a RIMOWA Electronic Tag. The baggage data is then visible on a data module which is integrated in the suitcase. The suitcase has to then only be placed on the belt at the Lufthansa baggage-drop-off counter. The baggage data shown on the module are identical in size and look to what is displayed on today´s paper labels. This important information is protected from moisture, heat, cold and impact and cannot get torn off.

Innovation price for the ‘Best Baggage Initiative’ received 

‘Best Baggage Initiative’ – this is the name of the award which Lufthansa and RIMOWA were presented in Las Vegas by leading travel experts at the ‘FTE – Future Travel Experience’ for the ‘Rimowa Electronic Tag’. The innovation price is awarded once a year to companies who, through their ideas or services, have made travelling for passengers more pleasant.
