From now on you can enjoy the newest cabin interior in all classes on Lufthansa long-haul flights. This is because Lufthansa has just successfully completed the largest cabin retro-fit in the history of the company. With it all 106 Lufthansa long-haul aircraft have been equipped with the newest cabins and the newest seats in Business and Economy Class. In 76 aircraft, passengers can have themselves pampered in the newest First Class cabin.
The unique retro-fit programme in numbers
Since 2011 Lufthansa has invested an average of one million euros per day into the new design of the cabins. The investment sums up to altogether more than 1.5 billion euros. Lufthansa Technik has changed, modified or built-in around 39,000 seats: 600 seats in First Class, 7,000 seats in Business Class and more than 27,600 seats in Economy Class. For the new Premium Economy Class around 3,600 seats will be built-in and already from autumn passengers will also be able to travel Premium Economy on all long-haul flights.
Entertainment, internet and mobile on board
Also the Inflight Entertainment has been taken to a new level: new screens and considerably more audio and video content provide great entertainment. In the course of the retro-fit the installation of FlyNet® has now been made available on all long-haul flights. The broadband internet, via an on-board WLAN access, offers passengers the chance to go online or watch current news or important sports events via the FlyNet® online portal. In addition, more than three quarter of the fleets have already been equipped with a direct access to a mobile network which enables passengers to send text messages or synchronise data via their personal mobile devices.
