At this year’s World Travel Awards on 5 September Lufthansa was awarded the title ‘Europe's Leading Airline’ for the 5th time in a row. Travel and tourism experts worldwide presented Lufthansa with two awards:
- ‘Europe´s Leading Airline’
- ‘Europe’s Leading Airline Lounge’ for the lounges at Frankfurt Airport
“It is an honour for us to present Lufthansa yet again with the award ‘Europe’s Leading Airline’. In the 22-year history of the World Travel Awards the airline has always been among the most innovative and advanced in Europe. We were therefore not surprised that our voters rewarded Lufthansa’s performance again tonight “, said Graham E. Cooke, president and founder of the World Travel Awards during the gala event on Sardinia.
Investments pay off and offer passengers an excellent travel experience
Jens Bischof, member of the Passage board and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of the Deutsche Lufthansa AG, is delighted about the award: “From this year onwards, the billions invested into quality, product and services over the years are paying off in their entirity for our passengers. With this we are continuing to strengthen our top position among the group of international premium airlines further.”
More awards went amongst others also to SWISS which came first in the category ‘Europe’s Leading Airline Business Class’ – and this both on short- and long-haul routes.
The new awards are continuing a positive trend
In June, Lufthansa already came first at the World Airline Awards in the category ‘Best Airline Transatlantic’ and ‘Best Airline in Western Europe’ and also came out on top in the category ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’. During the Business Travel Awards 2015 Lufthansa was awarded the title ‘Best Short-haul Airline’. With innovations such as the Premium Economy Class and the restaurant service in Business Class Lufthansa is taking another important step toward becoming a 5-star airline.
